The Informal Meeting of Environment and Climate Ministers (ENVI) took place in Nicosia on 5–6 February 2026, within the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Hungary was represented by Dr. Anikó Raisz, State Secretary at the Ministry of Energy.
Dr. Krisztina Lakos, ambassador of Hungary to Cyprus, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Michael Damianos, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus.
On 2–3 February 2026, the informal Competitiveness (COMPET) Ministers’ Meeting was held in Nicosia, within the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Hungary was represented by Richárd Szabados, State Secretary at the Ministry for National Economy.
Following the informal COMPET Council meeting of the Cyprus EU Presidency, State Secretary of the Ministry of National Economy, Richárd Szabados visited the Embassy of Hungary in Nicosia and held talks with Ambassador Dr. Krisztina Lakos.
The informal meeting of EU Education Ministers took place in Nicosia on 29–30 January 2026, focusing on dialogue and cooperation to strengthen the teaching profession.
The EUNIC Nicosia Cluster launched the third edition of the European Film Festival in Cyprus on 29 January 2026, opening the series with the screening of the Hungarian film “The Witness”.
On 23 January 2026, the Justice session of the Informal Meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers was held in Nicosia, in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Hungary was represented at the meeting by Dr. Bence Tuzson, Minister of Justice.
On 22 January 2026, the Home Affairs session of the Informal Meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers was held in Nicosia, on the margins of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Hungary was represented by Ambassador dr. Krisztina Lakos.
On 16 January 2026, Ambassador dr. Krisztina Lakos wrote a message in the Book of Condolence opened in memory of George Vassiliou, former President of the Republic of Cyprus.
The COSAC Chairpersons’ Meeting in Nicosia formally launched the parliamentary dimension of Cyprus’ EU Council Presidency. The event highlighted the Presidency’s priorities and featured high-level parliamentary keynote speeches.
