Budapest hosted a significant diplomatic event between 21 and 24 July, focusing on bilateral relations between Hungary and Cyprus, as well as the strategic challenges facing the European Union. The Budapest Diplomatic Dialogue, organized by the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy, brought together high-level experts and diplomats to discuss common European responses to security and defence issues, with particular attention to the Mediterranean region.
Key topics of the event included preparations for the EU Presidency, which was of particular importance for Hungary. In this context, discussions reviewed the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in preparing meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council, as well as preparations for ECOFIN, COREPER and EPSCO sessions. The talks also addressed the priorities of COREPER I and II, including issues related to the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
The programme also provided an opportunity for cultural insight, as the delegation visited the Hungarian National Gallery and the Szamos Chocolate Museum, thereby strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
This Budapest dialogue not only contributed to deepening bilateral relations, but also supported discussions on key issues shaping the future of the European Union, reaffirming Hungary’s commitment to European cooperation and stability.
